Introduction

Civil-engineering/architectural designer-draughtsman in the civil-engineering design service of the Design Office and Patrimony (DOP) section, part of the Site Engineering (SE) group in the Site Management and Buildings (SMB) department.

The successful candidate will join the civil-engineering design service of the Design Office and Patrimony section, part of the Site Engineering group in the Site Management and Buildings department (SMB-SE-DOP), which is responsible for civil-engineering design and studies of surface and underground structures as well as of outdoor installations and all underground networks. This service also creates computerised 3D models of all accelerator-related structures.

Functions

As a 2D and 3D designer-draughtsman you will be assigned the following tasks:

.Execution of preliminary design and/or project studies for new construction work or alteration work on surface or underground structures, in 3D or 2D using various software packages (Revit, AutoCAD, CATIA, Inventor and other design software).

.Use of Revit and AutoCAD to produce design and project-management drawings for new projects and/or structural alterations, detailed architectural work and drawings of various utility and road networks.

.Preparation of 2D drawings in AutoCAD based on 3D models (Revit, Catia, etc.).

.Preparation of photo montages based on 3D models, photos, etc. (use of Photoshop, Gimp, Corel Draw or similar software).

.Active involvement in preliminary design studies and feasibility studies for new projects, in collaboration with project leaders and other participating technical services.

.Participation in the coordination of and involvement in the various phases of the project (feasibility studies, work description, project execution, etc.).

.Participation in the infrastructure consolidation programme, in the definition of consolidation and maintenance plans, in the diagnosis of long-term structural deterioration and in the implementation of the Master Plan.

.Participation in the updating of the QAP (quality assurance plan for the section) and development of BIM methodology in the service.

.Participation in various working groups (draughtsman, graphic design, standards, etc.) within the Organization.

.Organisation of coordination and information meetings between CERN and architectural offices, private civil engineers or other service providers.

.Monitoring of changes in the technical specifications applicable to structural and finishing work, and of the technical features of new materials available on the market.

Qualification required

Higher technical diploma as an architectural or civil-engineering draughtsman or equivalent.*

Experience and competencies

The experience required for this post is:

.Expertise in the design of tertiary buildings and industrial structures.

.Proven experience in the use of Revit, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, CATIA V5, and preferably knowledge of several different 3D software packages.

.Experience of working with 3D scans (in Revit and/or CATIA V5).

.Experience of using PLM software (Smarteam or equivalent).

.Good knowledge of other building trades (electricity, air-handling, plumbing, sanitary facilities, etc.).
