Introduction

Electronics engineer in the Technology Department (TE), Electrical Power Converters Group (TE-EPC), High Precision Measurements Sections (TE-EPC-HPM).

You will join:

.CERN's Technology Department (TE) - the department responsible for technologies which are specific to existing particle accelerators, facilities and future projects.

.Electrical Power Converter Group (TE-EPC) - the group responsible for the power converters for the CERN accelerator complex.

.High Precision Measurements Section (TE-EPC-HPM) - the section responsible for the design, realisation, operation and consolidation of current and voltage high precision measurement and acquisition systems for power converters.

Functions

As an electronics engineer in the High Precision Measurements team you will:

.Interpret requirements and specify high precision signal conditioning and data acquisition systems.

.Design, produce and evaluate high precision signal conditioning and data acquisition systems for power converter applications, including all circuit and system level aspects.

.Select, procure and improve high precision current and voltage measurement devices.

.Implement automatic test beds for the evaluation of high precision equipment.

.Participate in the metrological characterisation of current and voltage transducers and data acquisition systems.

.Participate in the evaluation of the performance of power converters for accelerator applications.

.Manage all aspects of a complex electronics project from design to installation in the power converters.

.Write detailed documentation and ensure maximum availability of equipment for operation.

Qualification required

Master's degree in the field of Electronics engineering, or equivalent.

Experience and competencies

The experience required for this post is:

Extensive experience in the design, realization and commissioning of mixed analog and digital electronic circuits, including system level aspects such as electrical/mechanical integration and EMC. In particular, experience in the design of measurement instrumentation would be highly valued.

The technical competencies required for this post are:

.Analog circuit design, modelling and simulation (PSpice, Altium is a plus).

.Circuit layout, including related techniques and tools (Altium designer is a plus).

.Design of electronics for analogue sensors and transducers.

.Design of electronics for digital control systems and loops (real time).

.Design of automated test systems (LabView or LabWindows/CVI is a plus).

.Application of signal theory, mathematical techniques and tools.

.Application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
