Introduction Electronics Technical Engineer in the Technology Department (TE), Accelerator Beam Transfer Group (ABT), Electronics and Controls Section (EC). You will join: The Technology Department (TE), responsible for technologies which are specific to existing particle accelerators, facilities and future projects. The Accelerator Beam Transfer group (TE-ABT), responsible for the design, development, construction, installation, exploitation and maintenance of injection and extraction related equipment for the whole CERN accelerator complex. The Electronics and Controls Section (TE-ABT-EC), responsible for providing electronics and controls support to many different systems including: Fast pulsed magnets with associated high voltage pulse generators and transmission lines. Electrostatic and magnetic septa, including high voltage power supplies for electrostatic septa. Devices protecting against beam incidents. Functions As an electronics technical engineer in the TE-ABT-EC section you will work in an international team of hardware and equipment-level software developers. After an initial period of familiarization, you will: Study, design, develop, integrate and commission hardware and embedded software solutions for the control of beam transfer equipment across the whole CERN accelerator complex, with a focus on the LHC beam dumping system triggering and re-triggering system. Design data acquisition, analysis and monitoring systems for surveillance of redundant system in fast pulsed power systems. Participate in the exploitation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of existing control systems under the responsibility of the Electronics and Controls section, proposing improvements and upgrades as required. Take on supervisory responsibilities as required (technical students and contractors). Document and present your work as appropriate. Qualification required Bachelor diploma in the field of Electronics engineering, or equivalent. Experience and competencies The experience required for this post is: Initial experience in embedded and real-time software design and development with a good knowledge in signal acquisition, processing and analysis. Additional experience in electronics circuit design and simulation will be considered as an advantage. The technical competencies required for this post are: Design of real-time / embedded control system. Design and development of systems based on standardized electronic modules. Application of high level electronic system description languages, techniques and tools Object-oriented programming language. Commissioning, operation and maintenance of electronic systems. Additional technical competencies which might be required for this post are: Analog circuit testing and measurement techniques. Electronic circuit design, modelling and simulation. The behavioural competencies required for this post are: Achieving results: having a structured and organised approach towards work; being able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind. Working in teams: working well in groups and readily fitting into a team; participating fully and taking an active role in team activities. The language competencies required are: English or French: spoken and written with the ability to draw up technical texts. The ability to understand and speak the other language in professional contexts would be an advantage.
