Reporting to the European Product Manager, Lab Automation, Diagnostic Systems Europe, the Junior Product Manager is responsible for supporting the overall business objectives of BD Diagnostics, Diagnostic Systems Europe, by maintaining and developing market expert knowledge and translating the business strategy related to Lab Automation into tactical marketing and communication programs for the country organizations.

Main Responsibilities
•    Accountable for the achievement of key marketing functional goals at a product or product group line level
•    Develops and drives the execution of the Lab Automation product line tactical marketing and communication plans in collaboration with WW Global team and Country Marketing
•    Influences within work area/department/function and provides input, together with European Product Manager, into product/product group line-related business decisions and resource planning
•    Demonstrates marketing expertise through specific and advanced set of skills and knowledge, e.g. branding, communications, digital marketing, product development, downstream marketing
•    Drives product launches and contributes to market access planning and strategy
•    Gives input into leadership teams on a large worldwide product/product group line: European Marketing and Business team, Country Marketing teams, Global Product and Marketing teams, or Product Development Core Teams
•    Plays critical role in key European projects/ initiatives and will lead project/ initiative teams within the area of the product/product group line
•    Coordinate activities with other functions that are required as part of the execution of launch and marketing/sales plans.  These functions encompass regulatory affairs, medical and scientific affairs, supply chain, technical service, marketing communications, etc.

Responsibilities:

1.    Strategic thinking
•    Proactively contributes to the elaboration of the Pan European Diagnostic Systems Marketing Strategy and Tactics under direction of European Product manager
•    Supports management of product portfolio and provides input for new product developments, interfacing with WW marketing under direction of European Product manager and based on voice of customer/voice of business data
•    Collaborates with peers within Microbiology team and other aligned business units across the region (BDX)

2.    Creation and execution of product marketing plans for assigned products to ensure the achievement of financial/budget expectations and product line strategies, through varous activities including:
o    value proposition creation
o    voice of customer input
o    market sensing and feasibility with informed market data driven decision
o    marketing mix management
o    life cycle management
o    forecast development
o    communication tactical plans
o    strong collaboration with peers integrating services, informatics and Lean strategies into the lab Automation strategic program.

3.     Supports management of drivers of demand for assigned product line(s) such as
o    pricing strategy,
o    channel strategy,
o    contracting
o    product mix.
o    tender input (technical)
o    Maintaining and developing product line specific expert knowledge in terms of: customer needs, environmental forces, product, technologies, applications, and competition

4.    Participates as a Marketing Core Team Member on cross-platform technical teams, delivering the marketing leadership and support needed to the relevant projects.
•    Works closely with Informatics and Core Clinical product managers to align and collaborate on marketing plans and pull-through opportunities leveraging the entire portfolio.
•    Managing product portfolio and providing input for new product developments, interfacing with WW marketing and manufacturing

5. Ensures proper strategic execution of marketing plans in the countries
•    Support relevant Customer visits with Account  Managers
•    Develops and Manages Key Opinion leaders in relevant markets
•    Develops and executes Communication strategy including reference center development, exhibition strategy, webinars and sales support material.
•    Delivers the value proposition of the products to sales team to support selling process.
•    Implements Customer Centricity program in all marketing activities
•    Assists with the development and implementation of local launch plans including pricing, promotion, and sales training


Required knowledge and experience    

•    Academic degree in Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology, or similar education preferred
•    Minimum of 2-3 years of business experience in the life sciences and/or medical devices industry (single country and regional level), with a technical background
•    Lab automation experience would be a strong plus
•    Experience in product management (downstream and upstream) would be a strong asset
•    Proven ability to work cross-functionnally
•    Experience working with customers and collecting user inputs and feedback
•    Strong ability to work in a multicultural environment
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Capacity to lead/coordinate/influence a Project Team
•    Pro-active in moving things forward with a strong will to win, strong achievement motivation
•    Good analytical skills and ability to work in a team environment
•    Creative and enjoys to challenge the present
•    Good planning skills combined with high level of self-organization
•    Fluent in English and preferably one or more European languages such as French, Spanish, Italian and/or German
