As a Senior Mechanical Technician in the Technology Department (TE), you will join the Cryogenics Group (TE-CRG) which is in charge of: The design, construction, commissioning and operation of the cryogenic systems for CERN accelerators and detectors The operation, maintenance and upgrade of cryogenic test facilities The management of the industrial support contract for maintenance and operation of cryogenic systems As Senior Mechanical Technician in the CryoLab & Instrumentation (CI) section, you will: Participate to the follow-up of the construction and to the installation efforts concerning the cryogenic and the gas purification systems for future large liquid argon based neutrino detectors to be installed at CERN. Work together with the project team based at Fermilab (Chicago, USA) on the construction and installation follow-up of cryogenic and purification systems which the CERN team shall develop for future USA based neutrino detectors. Participate in the design of large liquid argon cryostats for neutrino detectors. Be part of the team of CERN staff and international visitors working on this subject at CERN. Higher technical diploma in the field of mechanics, or equivalent Demonstrated experience at the Senior Mechanical Technician level in the design, production follow up, installation and commissioning of mechanical installations Understanding the implication of cryogenics on mechanical constructions A first experience on working in an international project would be an advantage 3D & 2D technical drawing: knowledge of autocad would be an advantage Design of mechanical systems Commissioning & maintenance of mechanical equipment & systems English and French Work in Radiation Areas Interventions in underground installations Stand-by duty and work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization Occassional travel to US depending on the need of ongoing project
