To strengthen our Lonza Corporate Finance Department, we are looking for an exceptional Manager External Reporting & Consolidation, based at our Basel HQ and reporting to the Global Head of Consolidation & External Reporting.

Role Purpose:

The Manager Corporate Accounting is an integral part of the Consolidation and External Reporting team and responsible for the global consolidation and external financial reporting of the Lonza Group. This position plays a critical role in coordinating, managing and supporting the monthly, semi-annual and annual financial statement close and consolidation process, delivering consolidated financial statements to senior management on a monthly basis. Using profound understanding of Lonza's group structure, general ledger and financial reporting system, the Manager Corporate Accounting drives process improvements and efficiencies while ensuring the integrity of the process and the high quality of data. Additionally, the incumbent closely works with and supports the Global Head of Consolidation & External Reporting in preparation of the Lonza Group half-year and year-end external financial statements (in accordance to IFRS) as well as the financial section of the annual report. Furthermore, the incumbent is an IFRS accounting expert, providing finance support to internal stakeholders in highly complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition or asset impairments. This position cooperates with internal and external stakeholders which also requires international travels.

Key Accountabilities and Duties

Preparation of consolidated financial statements:  
•    as subject matter expert, developing and improving the reporting capabilities of the Lonza's consolidation system
•    responsible for ensuring the consolidation system addresses all requirements for external IFRS accounting
•    improving the consolidation system in order to provide additional internal performance measurement information required by Lonza’s senior management. Such requirements also comprise diverse like-for-like comparison scenarios, calculations of KPIs, reporting structure changes or acquisitions
•    ensures reliable consistent financial data during continuous system enhancements
•    preparing consolidated financial statements on a monthly basis which include the coordination and supporting of monthly close activities, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and completeness
•    managing the group wide intercompany reconciliation process.

Accounting & External Reporting:
•    preparing the Lonza Group half-year and year-end external financial statements (in accordance with IFRS), comprising the preparation of financial section of Lonza's externally published Annual Report, in coordination with Lonza's Corporate Communication and Investor Relations departments
•    plays an active role in projects to implement new accounting standards and setting global group accounting policies
•    provides trainings and guidance to business and finance teams on applying new accounting standards and proper operational accounting processes
•    ensures compliance of Lonza's financial statements and the Annual Report with IFRS accounting standards as well as stock exchange regulations
•    coordinating the yearly process of impairment calculations and discussing Lonza's assessment with the external auditors
•    acts as liaison person to external auditors

M&A activities:  
•    supporting the financial integration as partner for business finance teams (e.g. valuations, opening balance sheet completion)
•    contributing to the purchase price allocations for acquired companies and in this context, being contact for external valuation consultants

Business partnering:  
•    cooperates with other corporate functions (Corporate Treasury, Corporate HR, Corporate Tax, Investor Relations and Group Communications), the segment finance teams as well as the business service organization
•    provides guidance and liaise with business finance teams on how to properly reflect highly complex accounting and reporting issues (e.g. revenue recognition, asset impairment) in accordance with IFRS
•    supporting Investor Relations to address inquiries from investors and analysts

Other:  The Manager Corporate Accounting
•    representing Corporate Finance, Reporting & Accounting in corporate projects and
•    representing Lonza at external industry peer meetings

Furthermore you have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

•    Master Degree in preferably Economics & Business Administration, specializing in accounting, auditing and taxation
•    Considerable experience is required
•    Expert technical IFRS knowledge and experience.
•    Very good knowledge of financial consolidation systems (e.g. Hyperion, SAP BPC) and Financial ERP Systems (e.g. SAP/BW).  
•    Experience in managing global project teams in a complex matrix structure
•    Business English in writing and verbal communication is a must, any additional language is an asset (preferably German and/or French).
