Clariant strives to continuously improve capabilities of the organization in the Business Units and is searching for a Master Black Belt Consumer Care, Industrial Applications and Additives that focuses on business transformation and building as well as improving the capabilities of our organization in Commercial, Supply Chain and Operations. This is a unique opportunity to be a key driver to accelerate companywide revenue and profit growth. The role is part of the Clariant Excellence organization, established in 2009 to drive change throughout the company and establish a culture of continuous improvement. The objective is to support the business areas worldwide to drive operational efficiency, as well as to ensure achievement of revenue and profit targets to make Clariant a leading Specialty Chemicals Company by establishing a high performance culture and the required capabilities in the organization. The Master Black Belt Consumer Care, Industrial Applications and Additives is responsible for further developing business acumen in Clariant related to production, procurement and supply chain and improving the effectiveness of Operations globally in all business areas. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to drive change and help bring the business areas focusing on Consumer Care, Industrial Applications and Additives to the forefront of the chemical industry. The role reports to the Head of Operational Excellence and requires close interaction with the other Clariant Excellence Master Black Belts as well as Initiative Leaders focused on Innovation, Commercial and Operational Excellence. The position leads and coaches a global team of project managers and Lean Sigma Black Belts in the Business Units (BUs) and Regions, to develop and implement improvement programs in the following areas and define additional areas of opportunity: • Drives BU focus on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, profitable growth, customer centricity and capability building • Ensures Clariant Excellence Deployment Roadmap and project pipeline for BU business transformation and holistic Project Portfolio Management • Leads and coaches a team of functional experts (Black Belts / Project Managers in Innovation, Commercial, Supply Chain, Procurement and Production Excellence) in the Regions • Assures project selection in line with BU Strategic Objectives and provides coaching for Black Belt- and Green Belt projects • Leads complex program and project initiatives • Know-how carrier for competencies, improvement processes and tools. Actively drives best practice sharing and benchmarking The person best-suited to this position will be a strong team player with distinctive interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of closely interacting with and acting as a thought partner and challenger for business management and teams in operations. An ability to understand and operate effectively with diverse work environments, cultures, individual perspectives and concerns is required. The candidate will need to be able to build solid, trust-based working relationships. A strong strategic mindset and experience in setting up structured process frame works to achieve goals is needed. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to be developed into further leadership roles in the Clariant organization, preferably for a subsequent business management responsibility in South America where a strong growth for solutions in Consumer Care, Industrial Applications and Additives is expected. The Master Black Belt Consumer Care, Industrial Applications and Additives is responsible for driving Clariant Excellence within Clariant by: • Conducting strategic projects across all business areas and regions through managing and coaching the global Black Belt team network and business area representatives • Promoting strong process and lean-orientation in the BUs • Developing and implementing best practices, tools and processes in Commercial, Supply Chain and Production to ensure delivery of increased revenue growth at above average profitability • Defining and developing capability building for the global Excellence organization in the BUs • Advising business areas on how to further strengthen and improve organizations in Operations • Acting as a change agent to drive changes in mindset within the BU organizations and improve the effectiveness in the overall end-to-end business processes process • Managing multiple and diverse stakeholders (from BU top management members to Operations Heads and shop floor supervisors/operators) • Assuring benefit achievements in Regions in line with Audit approved global benefit guideline and KPIs and taking active ownership of agreed deliverables • Identifying and driving improvement business outcome from Cross Business Unit Synergies Requirements: • Advanced Degree in Business Administration • Executive MBA, or equivalent • Six Sigma certification (minimum Lean Sigma Black Belt, certified by TÜV or other industry-wide accredited organization) • Training as Lean Sigma Master Black Belt • Min. 5 years relevant professional B2B experience in specialty chemicals industry • Min. 5 years in Supply Chain organization, responsible for Supply Chain optimization, Demand Planning and Portfolio management for multinational customers • Min. 10 years specialty chemicals industry experience in at least one of the Clariant business areas (Natural Resources, Care Chemicals, Catalysis, Plastics & Coatings) • Min. 3 years as Project Manager in Supply Chain Excellence, Production Excellence, or equivalent • International Experience for Business in Europe, Africa, Middle East and South America • Advanced professional training in Supply Chain Management (APICS preferred) • Proven track record: T-shaped profile with broad supply chain knowledge; solid background in supply chain management and logistics within the specialty chemical industry • Professional expertise in data analytics, supply and demand planning, logistics in the specialty chemical industry • Specific expertise in SAP Integrated Business Planning (IPL) • Strategic thinking capabilities with experience developing and executing business strategies • High level of business acumen with ability to understand and analyze detailed Profit and Loss statements to find areas for potential improvement • Strong analytical skills to structure and prioritize business needs into clear program/project plans and actions • Proven, systematic project management capabilities and structured work approach • Advanced skills to analyze and visualize data in Excel and advanced Dashboards • Conceptual thinking to define relevant frameworks and approaches • Pragmatic leader not afraid of challenging conventional thinking • Experience successfully managing internal and external stakeholders in senior management positions (Director level and above) • Change leader who can drive, inspire and motivate people • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and working with new employees and colleagues • High energy and self-efficacy to drive change with strong team work and interpersonal skills, ability to coach, train and influence people by balanced application of tools/ techniques, management systems and mindset and behaviors • Willingness to travel frequently • Language requirements: Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, Portuguese and Spanish (additional languages desirable) • Based in Basel Switzerland (Clariant/Infrapark Muttenz site offices) with frequent (50%) travel locally and to various regions worldwide
